Close to 200 Michigan City High School sophomores arrived at school last Friday with shields in hand -- the culmination of a unit on the Middle Ages. The "shields" assignment has become an annual tradition in Lucas Snyder's World History classes. After researching their family history, the students created shields depicting their relatives' country of origin, religion, and occupations, along with several elements representing themselves.
