Though it may not feel like it, Spring is here and we have a list of some fun season themed events this weekend. In Portage there is the Spring Fashion Show and Dessert Bar and in Michigan City, there is the Spring garden show to pep you up for the Spring cleaning duties.  There's these and more fun events in this week's 10 Fun Things to do this Weekend in Northwest Indiana!

Our Community Inc. Spring Fashion Show and Dessert Bar
The evening will start with a spring fashion show followed by a decadent dessert bar including a chocolate fountain and sparkling beverages. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the evening, a silent auction will take place as well as several “Unicorn legging” drawings. There are over 35 pair to choose from! And for the finale over 30 fashion vendors will be on site to shop.

Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra: Beethoven & Bernstein
Join the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra and Music Director/Conductor Kirk Muspratt for “Beethoven & Bernstein” at The Auditorium at Bethel Church in Crown Point. The concert will feature the Northwest Indiana Symphony’s principal oboist Jennet Ingle, countertenor Thomas Aláan, and the Symphony Chorus.

Spring Garden Show March 2017
Come to the La Porte County Master Gardeners Spring Garden Show on Saturday and get in the mood for Spring. It will be a fun and informative day for the whole family, to be held at Michigan City High School.

La Porte Family YMCA 14th Annual 5k/10k Run/Walk
Join La Porte County Family YMCA for our 14th Annual La Porte County Family YMCA 10K Run & 5K Run/Walk at the beautiful Soldiers Memorial Park in La Porte Indiana! This exciting event is a Calumet Region Striders Gold Cup Series Race.

Put Your Best Fork Forward:  Diabetes Alert Day & Nutrition Health Fair
It’s possible to eat delicious foods while still staying healthy, and the entire community is invited to Put Your Best Fork Forward – a free National Nutrition Month & Diabetes Alert Day Health Fair at the Community Health Center in La Porte.

Humane Society Calumet Area Critter Carnival
The Humane Society Calumet Area will be hosting their 14th annual gala event, the Critter Carnival,  at the Munster Performing Arts Center.

Feline Community Network Trivia & Game Night
Join Portage Parks and Rec for a Trivia & Game Night with great food, great friends and raising funds for our furry felines!

Roller Derby: March Madness Double Header
Northwest Indiana’s roller derby team the South Shore Roller Girls (SSRG) host a double header bout. Watching double the hits, double the blocks, and double the derby will surely double your appetite. The food and drink at the concession stands will keep you fueled to continue watching the tough ladies battle it out on the track.

Rusted Root at the Hammond Civic Center
Having collaborated for two decades, Rusted Root has honed the perfect combination of musical intuition, freedom, and virtuosity, which has allowed them to organically shape their music into it's own distinct and undeniable vision. They will be performing live in Hammond on Saturday.  

Memorial Opera House Youth Theatre Program: School's Out
Memorial Opera House is delighted to reveal it's new youth theatre program, the LimeLights. Through this workshop our students will bring the world of a story book to life through set design, costuming, and acting. Our actors will have an opportunity to assist in costuming and set design while also learning the creating their own script based on a book for a final performance that same day!
