Join us on July 7, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00pm when Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) will be hosting the Opening Reception for "Home", "Patty Caroll: Anonymous Women" and "Natural Appreciation: Dunes, Waters, Forests of Michiana". Peruse the exhibitions and meet the artists. Admission is free and there will be lite bites and a cash bar.
Home, on display through October 14, is a national-juried exhibition that explores the concept of home in all media. Sixteen artists were selected to exhibit work that investigates a variety of interpretations of the theme, such as shelter, family, immigration, homelessness, nostalgia and architecture.
The jurors for Home, Emanuel Aguilar and Julia Fischbach, co-founded PATRON Gallery, a contemporary art gallery with a focus on emerging artists and conceptual practice.

Also exhibiting through October 14 is photographer Patty Carroll's striking series, Anonymous Women, about becoming the dwelling itself; experiencing the double edge of domesticity.
Carroll's photographs are known for their use of highly intense, saturated color. Her most recent project, Anonymous Women, consists of a 3-part series of studio installations made for the camera, addressing women and their complicated relationships with domesticity. By camouflaging the figure in drapery and/or domestic objects, Carroll creates a dark and humorous game of hide-and-seek between her viewers and the Anonymous Woman. The photographs are published in a monograph,
Anonymous Women, released in January, 2017 by Daylight Books, is available for purchase in the LCA Gallery Shop.
The Area Artists' Association Gallery will feature "Natural Appreciation: Dunes, Waters, Forests of Michiana", a group of plein-air drawings by Linda Weigel from July 1 through August 6. The drawings are inspired by excursions to Beverly Shores, the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, Galien River and Fernwood Gardens. Her work reflects a concern for environmental conservation and protection of the area's unique biodiversity. Weigel is a retired art educator and Chair for the Fine Arts Department for La Lumiere School and an active member of the regional arts community.
GALLERY TALK
On the second Saturday of each month, from 10:00 to 11:00AM, LCA offers curator-led Gallery Talks to discuss the works behind the exhibitions. On July 8, LCA's Exhibitions Curator, CarolAnn Brown, will provide an overview of the exhibition "Home". Exhibiting artist, Doreen Maloney, will discuss her installation "Lanternhouse: No Place Like Home", and her process. Future Gallery Talk dates are August 12 and September 9.
