Briar Leaf Golf Club and Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce Sport at Business After Hours

Thursday evening brought plenty of people to the green as the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce and Briar Leaf Golf Club hosted Business After Hours for members. Hosted at Briar Leaf, the event pulled local chamber members in for a fun networking experience.

Members enjoyed plenty of great company, networking opportunities, and the beverage cart as the event proceeded. Shannon Walker, Director of Marketing for the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce, explained the significance and purpose of these interactive events that are hosted throughout the year.

“We at the chamber really want to use these after-hours events to engage our members and give them the opportunity to network and get to know each other and learn about businesses within their community,” Walker said.

One of the unique features of Thursday’s event was Briar Leaf Golf Course’s PGA Professional Jay Williams and his putting clinic. Beginners and experienced golfers alike were provided putters and golf balls and given the opportunity to enhance their putting skills. Following the clinic on the practice green, a putting contest was held on the “Mini Masters” putting course.

“We love getting to see some new people, networking, and hopefully meeting people that might be interested in learning more about golf and coming to visit us,” Williams said. “We wanted to do something different today by having the putting green set up and allowing people to give it a try.”

Smiles abounded as attendees learned more about golf, met with fellow business professionals, and enjoyed the atmosphere of the evening. For many professionals, after-hours events are a perfect way to meet new people, welcome others to their ranks, and learn more about the community they do business in.

“This event is perfect for us,” said attendee Courtney Parthun, an associate at We Connect. “Our client base is businesses, and we are a nonprofit looking to connect with other business people within our community and meet new people to see if there may be a connection or a need for our services.”

Business After Hours events continue to provide the business community of the Greater La Porte area with a solid way to meet other professionals and create meaningful connections. At Briar Leaf Golf Club, the event took a unique turn as attendees honed their golf skills and enjoyed a little friendly competition.
