La Porte Chamber Hosts an Excellent Expo

The La Porte Chamber of Commerce hosted the La Porte Business Expo at the Best Western Plus in La Porte on Thursday evening. This expo served as a great way for local businesses to get exposure and have valuable networking opportunities.

"This is a great networking event," Ashley Hawkins, Director of Marketing and Communications for the La Porte Chamber said. "It's an opportunity for our chamber members and community members alike to discover the products that we have here in La Porte."

Booth after booth was set up, adorned with each businesses personal touch. Representatives from each business manned (or womaned) their stations, mingling with other business and chamber members and sharing their products and services with one another.

The first two hours of the expo were meant for chamber members only. After that, the general public was allowed to take part. Bert Cook of the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation came as a guest and representative of GLEDC.

"I wanted to come and see the turnout of local businesses that the Chamber put together," Cook said. "As soon as you walk in you can see that there are a lot of people here and it's exciting to see the public meet with these local businesses. This is amazing for networking."

First Trust Credit Union was one of the many businesses at the expo. The ladies representing it were quite pleased to be there.

"We are Chamber members and we love to be a part of our communities," Laurie Franke-Polz, Marketing Director at First Trust Credit Union said. "We love to be at meet and greets like this and share what our business has to offer."
