NIPSCO Seeks Applications for New Environmental Grant

rot2Aimed at funding environmental restoration and educational projects in northern Indiana

NIPSCO is announcing a new environmental grant to support local nonprofit organizations with environmental initiatives. The goal of NIPSCO’s Environmental Action Grant is to provide funding for restoration and education projects throughout northern Indiana.

“There are a lot of creative ways to effectively and efficiently help protect the environment,” said Larry Graham, managing director of public affairs. “We want this grant funding to encourage innovative and needed environmental projects that otherwise might not happen.”

Grants are available in the amount of $500 to $5,000. Applications will be accepted through March 31, 2016, with grant awards announced during the week of Earth Day, April 22.

Creating opportunities for volunteerism is an important part of the new grant, in addition to providing monetary support to the recipient organizations.

Nonprofit organizations with a mission to support the environment are invited to submit a grant request through NIPSCO’s online request portal at www.NIPSCO.com/Community. When submitting an application online, please select the “Environmental Action Grant” option in the Type of Support dropdown box on the application.

Eligible organizations must be a 501(c)(3) or other nonprofit as determined by the Internal Revenue Service with an environmental project focus and have a direct impact in the NIPSCO service area.
