La Porte Community Schools gave an update on building projects for the corporation and different programing options involving both FFA and manufacturers. The Unity Foundation of La Porte County reminded the committee of its scholarships available to area students, and local manufacturers were present that stressed the importance of our schools being engaged with our local companies. The Governmental Affairs Committee heard about changes at the county level regarding economic development structure and the marketing of the Kingsbury Industrial Park. The group also heard from officials at the state and municipal levels of government as well. The Retention & Expansion Committee heard from the Northwest Indiana Forum about the significance of having a strong Retention & Expansion program and also learned about the Executive Pulse questionnaire and how it could be used on our area visits.
