The Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce has continued the year of 2017 with strong success in its programs, events, and committees.

These include: Pejic & DiMartino, The 7th Crow, LR Men’s Clothier & Tuxedos, Family Vision Care, Mama T’s Diner, Thode Floral & Gift Shop, Qubit Networks, Go Aerial Fitness, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Hamilton Grove, Tri-Star Garage Door, Drayton, Biege, Sirugo & Elliott, LLP, Hesston Steam Museum, The Social and Learning Institute, Prendergast Agency (Allstate), La Porte County Historical Society, RQAW Corporation, Fox Village LLC, Thermco-Cycler Industries, Inc., and Irvine Holdings LLC. The La Porte Chamber also held a Business after Hours at You-nique Bou-tique in Downtown La Porte in February. The business proved to be a hit with attendees as many could be seen trying on hats and outfits and making purchases at the local store. For more information about You-nique Bou-tique, visit the store at 800 Michigan Avenue in La Porte, call 219.379.7777 or visit their Facebook page.

The Chamber has been actively visiting businesses to see where needs and opportunities lie. The team has made over fifty visits in February alone. The Chamber is also continuing to develop new ways to engage and promote our members and area businesses through social media and more networking events.

The Education Committee continued to have near-record attendance. La Porte Community Schools gave an update on building projects for the corporation and different programing options involving both FFA and manufacturers. The Unity Foundation of La Porte County reminded the committee of its scholarships available to area students, and local manufacturers were present that stressed the importance of our schools being engaged with our local companies. The Governmental Affairs Committee heard about changes at the county level regarding economic development structure and the marketing of the Kingsbury Industrial Park. The group also heard from officials at the state and municipal levels of government as well. The Retention & Expansion Committee heard from the Northwest Indiana Forum about the significance of having a strong Retention & Expansion program and also learned about the Executive Pulse questionnaire and how it could be used on our area visits.

The Chamber is proud to play an active role in the development of La Porte and our area businesses, and we invite you to come join us!
