Patrick’s Grille Kicks Off Summer with the New Sunset Grille!

The people who have brought you Patrick’s Grille have a new restaurant in the works! Opening on May 25 at Washington Park in Michigan City, Sunset Grille will offer great food and cocktails with a view to match.

Patrick’s Grille has been one of Michigan City’s high-end dinner spots for many years. The restaurant specializes in fine dining and an upscale atmosphere that has captured the hearts of locals. The new Sunset Grille will offer something a little different for people who love Patrick’s but want something with some summer fun.

“The place itself is absolutely gorgeous. It’s right on the beach, right there in Washington Park,” said Meghan Johnson, Marketing and Communications Director of both Patrick’s and Sunset Grille. “I mean the views from there are just absolutely incredible. You can see the sunset - it’s just a lot of fun.”

Sunset Grille will be taking over what used to be Fire and Water just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Due to limited kitchen capabilities, concession food will continue to be sold to beachgoers. Think hamburgers, pizza, chili cheese dogs, all your summer favorites! However, the rooftop space will have the same class as Patrick’s Grille.

“At night we will have servers up on the rooftop and we’re going to offer some higher end appetizers - coconut shrimp, shrimp cocktails, ahi tuna - so that’s the sort of thing that’s coming from Patrick’s,” Johnson said. “And of course we’ll have wines, beers, specialty appetizers, and then the specialty cocktails. They’ll change all the time.”

The managers for the new restaurant, Julie Krause and Phil Gushrowski, will use their expertise and leadership to guarantee that everyone feels comfortable at Sunset Grille.

“Julie and Phil are detail-focused, they’re good with their staff,” Johnson said. “The way our food is going to be presented is going to be different. It’s going to be a little more attentive. It’s going to be a lot better one-on-one time with customers.”

To fully round out an evening at Sunset Grille, visitors can expect some of the same things that they loved about the former Fire and Water.

“There’s still going to be plenty of live entertainment,” Johnson said, also mentioning social hours and tap takeovers.

The Grille will be open seven days a week, with concessions opening at 11 a.m. and the rooftop dining opening at 4 p.m. Check out Sunset Grille’s Facebook page to keep up to date on all the new and exciting things happening this summer!
