Thursday evening, Economic Development Corporation Michigan City (EDCMC) partnered with Cadence Enviromental Energy Inc. to host their annual "Business After Hours" event in Michigan City. This event brings community members together to have a look at what the organization is doing and to get a sneak peek of what's to come for the next year.
Economic Development Corporation Michigan City strengthens the community by being an excellent resource for businesses. The EDCMC hosts this event once a year to keep people in touch with recent activities and to show their importance to the community.
"Tonight is about telling our clients and partners, ‘Thank you for being great partners, and thank you for allowing us to be a great success,’" said Executive Director of EDCMC Clarence L. Hulse.
The company showed off the newest medical plaza building that's available to interested businesses for purchase. EDCMC is dedicated to bringing people together to build a relationship and to increasing businesses in the area.
"It's a night to have a lot of fun, and hopefully we'll get to show off the building," said Katie Eaton, Economic Development Manager for EDCMC. "Our company is what I like to refer to as a one-stop shop for businesses. Whether it's an existing business or a new business looking at Michigan City as a possible location, we help them as a resource connector within Michigan City."
As the networking began, people ate the excellent food provided by Patrick's Grille Catering and Bar Service. The guests were happily drinking their beverages and unwinding after a long day of work. Ideas In Motion Media Human Resources Manager Stephanie Swearington stopped by to enjoy the event.
"I came here to connect with our Michigan City partners; it’s a great way to network and to spread all the good news in the Region," said Swearington.
The president of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, Mary Jo Orlowski, helps to host the "Business After Hours" each year with their members.
"We're here for the EDCMC because they’re not only a partner and a member but they’re also a good friend," said Orlowski.
Orlowski wants the attendees to see the beautiful area and increase interest in the building.
"We are both working towards making Michigan City an attractive place to live, work, and play, and we're hoping that other businesses recognize that and want to come to Michigan City," said Orlowski.
