Youssef Zaknoun is Hospital’s June 2015 Ambassador of the Month

Youssef-ZaknounYoussef (Joe) Zaknoun, who for 18 years has served in the finance department and currently is onsite financial manager, is Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Michigan City’s June Ambassador of the Month.

The award has been presented by the hospital’s Social and Recognition Committee since 1988 and recognizes employees who exhibit the mission and values of Franciscan Alliance, which include compassion for those in need, respect for life and the dignity of mankind, wellness and prevention of illness, restoration to health and acceptance of death as the final step toward wholeness. Recipients also have demonstrated courtesy, the proper attitude and enthusiasm for their work.

Zaknoun was nominated for the award by a coworker, who said, “He exemplifies the mission and values of Franciscan Alliance.”

Asked how he felt about receiving the honor, Zaknoun replied he was surprised and happy at the same time.

“My job is very satisfying and challenging and I enjoy working with a lot of different people with different backgrounds that I can learn from, too. The last 18 years have been very rewarding working with the sisters and the employees at St. Anthony’s are great – like having another family,” he said.

Zaknoun resides in Michigan City with his wife. They have three children.

His hobbies include working with tools and doing household repairs.

In recognition of the honor, Zaknoun, as are all Ambassador recipients, was honored with a special billboard display for the month, a privileged parking spot, an Ambassador badge holder, a photo on the Ambassador of the Month wall that displays the previous 12 months’ winners, and $150 cash.
