Franciscan Alliance Welcomes Kevin Rose into the Fold

Kevin-RoseA native of the region since he was young, Kevin Rose has been sharing news with Northwest Indiana in one facet or another. The newly appointed Administrative Director of Marketing and Communications at Franciscan Alliance, Rose has plenty of experience and a great outlook that will serve our communities well.

Since October 2015, Rose leads the marketing and communications efforts of Franciscan St. Anthony Health locations in Crown Point and Michigan City, Franciscan St. Margaret Health locations in Dyer and Hammond, Franciscan Healthcare - Munster, and all of the clinics under the Franciscan Physician Network in Northwest Indiana.

“I came to Franciscan because I thought this was a great opportunity,” Rose said. “There are a lot of exciting projects in play and there is so much going on in the hospitals that needs to be shared with the communities.”

Rose has always been interested in the communication process and how important communication is to the strength of an organization. He loved to write as well so it seemed like a natural course for him to take.

“In college I took some public relations courses and got to know some of the professors really well and I decided that this was where I needed to be,” Rose said.

Rose attended Purdue University Calumet in Hammond where he obtained a bachelor’s and then a master’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. He jumped into the journalism field after graduating, becoming a correspondent for the Times, and then a staff writer for the La Porte Herald Argus. Rose transitioned into healthcare marketing after that when he obtained the position of Divisional Director of Marketing for the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago Service Corporation. After gaining multiple years of experience, Rose came to Franciscan Alliance.

Rose said that though journalism and marketing are similar, there are notable differences. Marketing allows you to be proactive, whereas journalism has you in a reactive mindset. In public relations you are pushing information out into the world, and in journalism you are receiving that information, and then pushing it out even further into the world.

On a daily basis, Rose and his team will tackle projects in social media, advertising, and public relations. They will work with the different Franciscan Alliance hospitals to promote programs and initiatives.

“The team is very strong here. It’s one of the first things I noticed when I came here,” Rose said. “There is great communication among the team here and everyone has the best interests of the organization at heart... Everyone has been very accepting of me and I feel like I fit right in.”

Marketing the full scope of the services offered at Franciscan Alliance is a challenge that Rose gladly takes on. He thrives on figuring out strategies that get content to effectively reach his audience, which in this case means sharing Franciscan Alliance’s programs, news, services, and initiatives with the surrounding communities.

“It’s challenging in a way that really makes you think,” Rose said. “You have to put all of these pieces together to get the correct message out and I am able to do that successfully thanks to our awesome team.”

Outside of work, Rose is an avid runner with a few marathons under his belt. He lives in highland with his wife and two daughters and is as active as he can be in their lives.
