Nicole Barker to Join South Shore Executive Team

Nicole-BarkerMichael Noland, General Manager of the South Shore Line passenger service is pleased to announce that Nicole Barker will be joining the South Shore’s executive team later this summer as Director of Capital Investment and Implementation.

Noland emphasized that Ms. Barker will play a central role in moving the South Shore’s marquee strategic investments forward. “In 2014 our Board adopted a 20-year Strategic Investment Plan that included double tracking from Gary to Michigan City and extending the South Shore along the West Lake Corridor from Hammond to Dyer. These projects will lay the foundation for providing faster and more frequent passenger rail service to and from Chicago. It’s important that we not only satisfy all federal requirements to get these projects funded but demonstrate that we are committed to attracting the best possible talent to help us achieve the Board’s shared vision.”

Noland further explained that “Barker comes with a history of getting things done and moving organizations in the right direction; most recently as Executive Director of Save the Dunes. She brings a wealth of experience in working in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors and will be of enormous value as we work towards completing the West Lake Corridor and Double Tracking environmental analyses.”

Ms. Barker will also help direct the South Shore’s marketing, public affairs and government relations activities.
