When Angela Wronko first started working at Sand Creek Country Club, she was behind the scenes in the accounting department. Now, as the Catering Sales Manager of the Food and Beverage Department, people walk by her office, popping in to say ‘Hi’ and asking what fun event is coming up at the country club.
“I love all of it to be honest,” Wronko said of the new position. “I love being more visible to our members. I am building relationships with our members and with the people and clients during events.”
Wronko is the go-to person for event planning at the country club. With all of the golf season outings, fundraisers, business meetings, holiday parties, and weddings, Wronko’s calendar is loaded with activity.
“It is enjoyable for me because I get such a diverse spread. I am not just doing weddings and not just doing business events,” she explained. “I am out there promoting our venue at the front end and planning the entire process with the clients. We work with every facet of planning so that nothing is left to chance.”
Wronko joined the Food and Beverage team one year ago. She was hired to take the banquet responsibilities from Amy Cushway, the Director of the Food and Beverage Department.
“Our banquets have grown so much over the years that it was time to restructure the department because it was too much for one person,” Wronko said.
So, Wronko has taken over the client-to-client relationships, taking phone calls, marketing and promoting the country club for future clients, and managing the vendors for events.
When it comes to an event, a wedding for example, Wronko helps the bride with every detail from start to finish. The club tailors all services and vendors to each event, and Wronko takes care of all planning so that she can guarantee the day goes flawlessly for the bride.
Then, the day-of, Wronko and Cushway are there to execute.
“That’s exciting. I am here for the day-of with the brides, making sure everything is exactly the way it is supposed to be,” Wronko said. “We are a team here and all of our brides have a personal assistant for the day who helps them with whatever they need.”
Everything from hemming dresses to pinning boutonnieres, to making sure everyone is lined up correctly for their trip down the aisle are all on the to-do list, says Wronko.
“I tell the bride we are their day-of coordinator, so they don’t have to worry about anything.”
Wronko and her husband Nathan were married in October 2016, the reception was held at Sand Creek, and then the two traveled to Punta Cana for their honeymoon. Then, they took a trip to Disney World with their 10-year-old son Max for Christmas.
“We like to travel and go on vacations,” she said. The family also enjoys going to the movies to catch the latest films and heads to downtown Valparaiso to see the local concerts and bands play.
“We love every type of music!” she said, going out with her husband or girlfriends. “From opera to rock really, and wherever someone is playing.”
The Wronko’s also like to throw parties for their friends. “We are currently planning a Fat Tuesday party,” she said. Nathan, an Executive Chef by trade, loves to cook for family and friends. Together the couple has lots of experience entertaining.
Planning the perfect event takes organization, communication and management skills, three traits Wronko has a personal flair for. It takes someone special to know how to make a client, family member, or friend at ease during their special occasion.
