2014 Fall Brown Bag Lunch Gardening Series Presented by Master Gardeners

PurdueLogoFolks are invited to bring their “brown bag” lunch or evening snack and learn a little about gardening during three sessions presented by La Porte County Master Gardeners. Three sessions, two in La Porte and one in Michigan City, will focus on aspects of gardening from putting your vegetable and landscape gardens to bed for winter to next year’s garden planning. Each session will cover two timely topics presented by trained Master Gardener volunteers.

Gardening is one of America’s most popular hobbies. According to a recent Greenhouse Management Online study, nearly 164 million homeowners in the US (49%) gardened in the past 12 months. Get helpful information on gardening by participating in one or all of the sessions in the Fall Brown Bag Gardening Series, sponsored by the La Porte County Master Gardener Association.

Sessions will be held as follows:
Wednesday, Sept. 10, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. CDT, Putting the Vegetable Garden to Bed and Seed Gathering, La Porte County Public Library, 904 Indiana Ave., La Porte, IN.
Wednesday, Oct. 8, Noon to 1:00 p.m. CDT, Putting the Landscaping to Bed and Composting, Michigan City Public Library, 100 E. 4th St. Michigan City, IN.
Wednesday, Nov. 12, Noon to 1:00 p.m. CST, Planning Next Year’s Garden and A Gardener’s Christmas Wish List, Purdue Extension-La Porte County Office, 2857 W. State Road 2, Suite A, La Porte, IN.

Folks are invited to bring their lunch or evening snack and join in for one or more sessions on these gardening topics. The fee is just $5 for each fun, relaxing session, which includes informational handouts, or $12 for all three sessions. No need to pre-register; just show up.
