Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann Visits Michigan City Area Schools

MCAS-Collage-05-12-15Indiana's Lt. Governor, Sue Ellspermann, was in Michigan City on Friday, May 8 to visit the A. K. Smith Career Center. She spent the morning touring the building and visiting several classes. Culinary students prepared a delicious continental breakfast, which she enjoyed while hearing from student mentors from each CTE program. Students shared information about their programs, dual credit and certifications they had earned, and their plans for the future. Lt. Governor Ellspermann also asked for their input on education and career-tech preparation in our state.

Representatives from NIPSCO and the Region One Works Council were also on hand for the breakfast and tour; the Lt. Governor pointed to the NIPSCO Energy Academy partnership as a model in Indiana. Before she left, Energy Academy students presented her with an official hard hat and asked her to sign the Academy grand opening banner.
