The opening reception for this exhibit will take place from 6 to 9 p.m.

The photography featured in this exhibit will encompass different themes such as monuments, the street life of Paris, and color composition. The students participated in a month-long study abroad program with the Communication and Creative Arts Department, in which they studied photography and art appreciation in Paris during the most recent summer semester.

“Getting the opportunity to display our artwork is an awesome bonus to this whole trip,” Gabrielle Martin explained. “I had taken a photography class prior to going to Paris, but I hadn’t really done much with it due to my lack of experience.”

Martin credits Thomas Roach, the Communication and Creative Arts department head and the photography instructor, with her advancements in her photography skills.

One of the other students, Sara Komendat, said visiting the museums and discussing the styles of different art works helped her establish who she is as a photographer. She explained that the different course assignments contributed to the development of her own style.

“I am so excited and proud to show my work,” said Komendat. “It is an opportunity to show how hard I worked and to share that through my photography.”

The Communication and Creative Arts Department at PNW is currently accepting applications for the study abroad program in May 2018. The deadline for applications is January 15th. the total cost of the trip is $3500.
