Michigan City High School Wolves Wire, December 2017

MC Wolves logoIt is truly the most wonderful time of year. It is hard to believe 2017 is almost over! We’ve seen so many accomplishments this year, and there is more to do. Our staff and students are working hard to ensure that our vision and mission are meaningful and not just words on a poster hanging in the building. Our vision, One City! One Pack! Excellence for Everyone!, and mission, which ensures all students will graduate college and career ready, cannot be fulfilled without the support of our parents and community partners.

We are excited to share with you that Michigan City High School has been named to the College Board AP District Honor Roll. The Honor Roll recognizes 447 school districts in the U.S. and Canada that have increased access to AP coursework while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams. Last year there were only 10 schools in the state of Indiana recognized on the AP District Honor Roll. More exciting news, we will be rolling out a new tool called Naviance in January.

Naviance is a comprehensive K-12 college and career readiness platform that enables self-discovery, career exploration, academic planning, and college preparation for our MCHS students. Matching students to colleges based on their interests and goals, and comparing admissions rates at students’ top college choices, the Naviance college planning tools allow students and families to make informed decisions. Naviance helps students find their best-fit higher education institution.

Your student’s attendance to school is very important. The high school will be a very busy place over the next few weeks as we come to the end of our first semester. We want our students to experience every opportunity to ensure a positive outcome at the conclusion of first semester. Retesting for ECAs and ISTEP is 12/5-12/7. Any student needing to take ECAs or ISTEP will receive a notice from administration regarding the day and time they will test. Final exams are scheduled for December 18th and 19th. On December 18th students will take final exams for periods 1,3, 5, and 7, on December 19th students will take final exams for periods 2,4, 6 and 8.

Michigan City High School hallways are still full of signs rooting on our football team! What a great fall season for all sports and to top if off our football team makes history in making it to semi-state. We are so proud of their accomplishments and look forward to our winter sports season.

“One City, One Sound” will be December 14th, we hope you will be able to come out and enjoy the talents of Michigan City Area Schools. For more information on all activities and events, please follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to the Wolves Wire.
