La Lumiere Science Olympiad Team Places First in Regionals, Advances to State

La-Lumiere-Science-Olympiad-Team-Places-First-in-Regionals-Advances-to-State_01 La Lumiere School sent two teams to the Indiana Science Olympiad regional competition at Goshen College on Saturday, Feb. 10 to compete against 11 teams from seven northern Indiana schools.

La Lumiere’s two teams, called Blue and White, won a total of 26 medals at regionals, with the White team finishing 6th overall.

La-Lumiere-Science-Olympiad-Team-Places-First-in-Regionals-Advances-to-State_02 The Blue team placed 1st overall to qualify for the Indiana Science Olympiad State Finals held March 17, 2018 at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Science Olympiad tests students’ abilities in the areas of Earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and problem solving. There are 23 total events in the competition, including Experimental Design, Mousetrap Vehicle, Forensics, Hovercraft, Disease Detectives, and Remote Sensing, among many others.
