The La Porte County Public Library, in collaboration with the City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department, is excited to announce our StoryWalk® project which will be unveiled with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at the beginning of the paved walking path of Kesling Park near the 18th Street parking lot.
StoryWalk® is an innovative way for children and families to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. This project combines the benefits of physical activity, time outdoors in nature, literacy, and family time. Laminated pages from a children's book are installed along an outdoor path. You can read the story as you walk. This StoryWalk® will be in place throughout the walking season and will feature a new story every month. Members of the community are encouraged to attend this opening day ribbon cutting.
