The La Porte Community Comes to the Aid of Local Family

wilson-familyYour home is where your heart is. But what happens when you lose your home? You tend to lose heart. All that you built, the memories you created with your family in your home, all physical remnants of those things are gone. For one La Porte Family, this sad notion became a reality this past August when their house caught fire and was unsavable despite the efforts of the local fire department.

Everything was destroyed, even their pets were lost to the fire. It was a sad time indeed for Nicole and Kevin Wilson and their four children.

But the La Porte Community is a generous one, and within a short time people were reaching out to the Wilson family offering help. A GoFundMe page was set up by Jessica Hawkins and in just days over $2,000 was donated and those who weren’t able to donate money offered clothing, beds, furniture, and more to help the family get back on their feet.

The page itself has been shared over a thousand times via Facebook and Twitter and the well wishes, donations, and prayers keep streaming in.
