St. Mary Medical Center to Host Quilts of Valor Veteran’s Day Celebration

chs-stockSt. Mary Medical Center is hosting a Quilts of Valor Veterans’ Day Celebration at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 11 in the hospital’s auditorium. The event will honor 13 local veterans who have been nominated through the Quilts of Valor Foundation. The Quilts of Valor Foundation seeks to honor and comfort Veterans, including those touched by war. Indiana State Coordinator Diana Richards of Quilts of Valor Foundation will present hand crafted, high quality quilts to veterans and thank them for their service in a moving, ceremonious presentation.

“These quilts are very symbolic for a lot of veterans,” said Richards who is also a respiratory therapist at St. Mary Medical Center. “When we present these quilts, you can see in their eyes, how much it means to them.”

Veterans to be honored at the ceremony are: William Milner of Porter, Michael Pfeiffer of Valparaiso, Lynn West of Lake Station, Arthur Catenazzo of Merrillville, Patrick Catenazzo of Chesterton, Tom Jones of Crown Point, Timothy Creighton of Griffith, John Wolf of Valparaiso, Keith Bond of Highland, Lester Sheridan of Portage and Meliton Chavez of Portage.
