City of Whiting Receives Two Awards at 2015 IACT Conference

A shining example of a city maximizing its strengths

city-of-whiting-iact-2015-1Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) recently named the City of Whiting a 2015 IACT Community Achievement Award winner for its Lakefront Park Redevelopment Project in the 4,000-10,000 population category. The City received its award during the IACT Annual Awards Luncheon presented by Umbaugh, Wednesday, Sept. 30th at the 2015 IACT Annual Conference & Exhibition in French Lick.

“All across Indiana there are impressive examples of small communities achieving big things. Whiting, is a shining example of a city maximizing its strengths and repelling any doubt about what can be accomplished when a community pulls together. Whether it’s the lakefront development, amazing baseball stadium, Mascot Hall of Fame or the many festivals, parades and civic events, Whiting is finding ways to continually put itself on the map,” said IACT Executive Director and CEO Matt Greller.

Whiting was also one of two cities to have achieved the 2015 IACT Green Community of the Year distinction. Whiting received what is now their 6th consecutive Green Community of the Year award also during the IACT Annual Awards Luncheon presented by Umbaugh, Wednesday, Sept. 30th at the 2015 IACT Annual Conference & Exhibition in French Lick.

Mayor Joseph M. Stahura and the City of Whiting are extremely honored to have received recognition and awards for these achievements.
