The La Porte Park and Recreation Department would like to thank the Hastings Family for their donation of land into the park system. In 1970, Donald Hastings entered into a "gentleman's agreement" to allow the park department to use a parcel of land on the corner of Boyd Blvd and Monroe Ave as a park.
For many years, the park has been referred to as the Monroe Tot Lot. This year in Don's memory, his son Duane and granddaughter Devon have deeded the property to the Park Department and the name has been changed to Hastings Park.
The Park Foundation has purchased a new play set and it will be installed this August.
