Franciscan St. Anthony Health, Marquette Catholic High School Join Forces to Support Maria Petti Scholarship Fund

Once-Upon-a-Mattress-2014Proceeds from a March 14 performance of “Once Upon a Mattress,” presented by Marquette Catholic High School, will benefit the Maria Petti Memorial Scholarship Fund, which helps aspiring students become nurses.

The fund honors the spirit, passion and memory of Petti, one of Franciscan St. Anthony-Health Michigan City’s most highly regarded nursing professionals, who died from cancer at age 53 in August 2008.

Established by friends, family and colleagues, the fund serves as a tribute to Petti by extending her passion for the operating room environment to future generations of aspiring nurses and surgical technicians from LaPorte and Porter counties. The annual award provides support for a local student to enroll in a nursing or surgical technician program at an institution of higher education in Indiana.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with complimentary refreshments, a cash bar and silent auction at the Scholl Center, followed by the 7 p.m. performance at the Rudy Hart Theater. The school is located at 306 W. 10th St.

Tickets are $15 and are available at the hospital Gift Shoppe, 301W. Homer St., or by calling (219) 877-1410.
