Lewis said the money was raised during the parish’s annual Baby Bottle Ministry campaign, which takes place in October, during Respect Life Month. She added the donation was made in appreciation of the program’s pro-life support. More than 500 pounds of change was donated, not including paper currency and checks.

Donsbach thanked Lewis and called the gesture a blessing, adding the funds will be used to purchase diapers and other baby supplies. St. Clare, located at 1121 S. Indiana Ave., is under the auspices of Franciscan St. Anthony Health. The clinic provides free primary health care for area residents who fall within established income guidelines, are uninsured and are not eligible for government assistance. The clinic is sustained through philanthropic support. For more information or to make a donation, call the foundation at (219) 661-3401, or visit: GiveToFranciscan.org.
