Meals on Wheels Delivers 7,000,000th Meal

Meals-on-Wheels-Delivers-7000000th-MealOn Tuesday, October 25, 2016, Meals on Wheels delivered its 7,000,000 meal to client Edith Means who has received meals since 2005. This milestone was recognized throughout the Meals on Wheels community when all clients received a slice of cake with a special note attached explaining the significance of the day. Volunteer Pene Castor, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for over 30 years, handled the delivery of the 7,000,000th meal.

Sandra Noe, Executive Director, and Amanda Maynard, Director of Development, were on hand to snap photographs of Edith with Pene and to present Edith with a balloon bouquet anchored with a fan of lollipops which Edith was delighted to receive. Edith’s daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Means was also present to witness this special occasion for Meals on Wheels. In her lovely French accent, Edith said, “I don’t know what I would do without Meals on Wheels.”

Sandra Noe, stated, “It is a joy to honor Edith with our 7 millionth meal. Her joy for life is contagious.”

Founded in 1977, Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana is non-profit serving Lake County, Indiana. Meals on Wheels delivers meals to those in need five days a week using community volunteers.
