Franciscan Health Crown Point: Baby Bottle Ministry Pours Out Generosity

Franciscan-Health-Crown-Point-Baby-Bottle-Ministry-Pours-Out-Generosity-2016The congregation of Holy Name Catholic Church in Cedar Lake recently donated more than 100 new, stuffed toys to the Franciscan Health Crown Point Emergency Department, to give to young patients to make their visits more comfortable and for them to take home. The toy drive took place during the parish’s annual Baby Bottle Ministry, which occurs during October, which is Respect Life Month.

That effort normally involves participants’ filling the bottles with cash or checks for donations, but in this case, an appeal for the toys was made. Kate Carr, second from left, a co-chairwoman of the effort; along with Sandy Lewis (shown next to Carr), said the hospital was chosen, “because it is our local hospital, this is where we come when we need help,” adding, “these are for our neighbors and our communities.” Diane Warburton, left, ED manager, thanked the women for the donation. “The Emergency Department is humbled by the generosity of Holy Name church and thanks those who gave, from the bottom of our hearts.” Also shown is ED nurse Missy Wilson, right.
