Dylan Scott Community Matters Benefit Funds Distributed

Dylan-Scott-Community-Matters-Benefit-Funds-DistributedThis Sunday at Bethany we distributed the proceeds from the Community Matters Benefit Concert with rising country star, Dylan Scott and opening act, local Nashville recording artists, High Noon.

The benefit concert was held on November 14th and proceeds went to the LaPorte Jaycees for the Deserving Children's Christmas Shopping Tour and to Rebuilding Together LaPorte County for home repairs/renovations for our neighbors in need like the elderly, disabled, veterans, and low income homeowners.

The Jaycee's have headed up the LaPorte area Christmas Shopping Tour for many years, and now cover Michigan City and other county schools as well. Rebuilding Together is a national franchise with a LaPorte affiliate that organized just recently, hosting it's first "Build Day" in May of 2015 and repairing 6 homes in LaPorte and Michigan City for homeowners in need.

Bethany has sponsored 3 other concerts in the community. Randy Travis in 2007, Clint Black in 2012, the Henningsens on July 4th of this year, and this event with, Dylan Scott, who is now touring Lee Brice and Tyler Farr on the "Life Off My Years" Tour. Dylan Scott may not have been a household name when he came to LaPorte in November... but he will be... very soon. The 800+ attendees at the event enjoyed a great show with High Noon opening up at 6:00pm and Dylan Scott taking the stage at 7pm with the energy of a young Garth Brooks!

Concerts like this are a great community event that draws in support from many! People who normally could not afford to see a major concert were able to come for as little as $10.00 and front row tables sold for just $35 a seat or $250 per table. Corporate sponsors like MonoSol, Meridian, the Floor Store, and the Bethany Foundation help to make it possible as well as anonymous gifts and companies like Kabelins, the Blue Heron Inn, Spire, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Indiana Deli who were able to donate food, services or gifts.

The proceeds from the event which netted $10,000 were distributed this past Sunday at Bethany Church, with $5,000 going to each the Jaycee's and Rebuilding Together LaPorte County.
