LaPorteCountyLife.com Partnering with Lubeznik Center for the Arts

LaPorteCountyLife.com and Lubeznik Center for the Arts are excited to announce a new partnership, bringing together Good News and the arts!

Kicking off the year-long partnership, LaPorteCountyLife.com will serve as the presenting sponsor for the upcoming Iconoclastic! exhibit, running December 1st through February 24.

Partnering with LaPorteCountyLife.com provides an opportunity for Lubeznik Center for the Arts to introduce new patrons to all that we offer while showcasing the positive impact the arts have on our community,” explained Becky Jascoviak, Marketing Director at Lubeznik Center for the Arts.

Working with the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, we are excited to be bringing more exposure to the creative community in the region,” stated Chris Mahlmann, Publisher and CEO of Ideas in Motion Media, the parent company of LaPorteCountyLife.com. “Northwest Indiana is full of talented artisans and we’re happy to share those stories and be an outlet to bring recognition to their talent.

Iconography defines visual information that is universally understood and often recognizable. When icons are repurposed, the image remains the same but the meaning can change radically. The work chosen for the Iconoclastic! exhibit seeks to create a new discourse through the artist’s vision; iconic images are appropriated, manipulated, and repurposed from advertising, American pop culture, religion, and the art world.

Artists exhibiting include: Janet Bloch, Patty Carroll, Pate Conaway, Benjamin Funke, Nicole Gordon, Patrick Luber, Brian Sullivan, and Michael Wernik.

The two organizations will launch Iconoclastic! with an opening reception on Friday, December 7th, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the Hyndman Gallery at Lubeznik Center for the Arts. That Friday also marks the last First Friday Art Walk of 2012, featuring the Holiday Artisan Market at Lubeznik Center for the Arts, showcasing exquisite, locally made treasures for all price ranges.

Two book signings will take place during the Holiday Artisan Market, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. John Bower will sign his book “The Common Good”, a black and white photography study of historical Indiana places. Amanda Freymann and Joan Sommers will also be on hand for their collection, “Chuck Close Face Book”, an interactive exploration of self-portraiture which won the 2012 Boston Globe Horn Award for Non-Fiction.
