Opening Reception for New Exhibits during First Friday at LCA

LCA-Comics-and-CodeNovember 7, 5-8 p.m. (CST) Lubeznik Center for the Arts will hold an opening reception for its new exhibits Comics & Code and It's Not Just Your Sunday Comic Strip during the First Friday artwalk. Comics & Code (Hyndman Gallery) will feature comic artists Turtel Onli (co-curator/ Chicago, IL), Juan Arevelo (Huntley, IL), Jun Ogasawara (Chicago, IL), Paul E. Shultz (La Porte, IN), Corey Roc Bottom Davis (Columbia, SC), Philo Barnhart (Los Angeles, CA), Sean McGuinness (West Columbia, SC), Cory Hamscher (Valparasio, IN), Gina Wynbrandt (Chicago, IL), and Arie Monroe (Kansas City, MO). It's Not Just Your Sunday Comic Strip (Brincka/Cross and Northview Galleries) will feature selected work from the private collection of Paul Pettigrew. Get caught up in the excitement! Cosplayers are invited to dress in full attire during the event. Enjoy light bites and refreshments.

Comics & Code will explore the contemporary relationships between words and images through comic illustration, objects and animation. This invited group of artists will feature innovative stories that address the impact on culture through personal, political, social and gender issues. It's Not Just Your Sunday Comic Strip features selected original comic art work from the private collection of Paul Pettigrew. Over 20 years of collecting original signed works from some of the most influential comic artists in the business.

Lubeznik Center for the Arts is located at 101 W. 2nd St., at the lakefront in Michigan City, IN. Weekday hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CST). Weekend hours are from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM (CST).
