Lubeznik Center for the Arts June 2015 First Friday: LOK Young Artists’ Expo & Performance

rotALubeznik Center for the Arts will host the second annual LOK Young Artists' Expo in partnership with the Lindsey O'Brien Kesling (LOK) Wishing Tree Foundation. The evening is a showcase of LOK's work with youth in the region which includes support of LCA's youth programs. Activities will include an exhibition of artwork created primarily by LCA students on view in the NIPSCO Education Studios. At 6 PM (CDT) dance performances by Barker Middle School students and violin performances by Pine Elementary Students, both part of LCA afterschool programming, will begin. South Shore Dance Alliance, another long term LOK partner, will follow with a stellar high energy performance.

The expo is made possible because of the partnership between the Lubeznik Center for the Arts and LOK. LOK Wishing Tree Foundation's mission is to support young people in achieving their highest potential, unleashing their talents and acting upon their dreams through a wide variety of creative and performing arts opportunities. Other exhibitions to explore during the evening are, Looking Glass: Self Portraiture (Hyndman Gallery) which examines the art of self-study through the lens of photography and video. Taehoon Kim: Poem of a Boy Who Stopped Growing (Brincka/Cross and North View Gallery) is a solo show that features ceramic sculptures that engage with the physical and emotional evolution of creatures.

Light bites catered by Shoreline Brewery will be available along with kid friendly snacks.

Lubeznik Center for the Arts is located at 101 W. 2nd St., at the lakefront in Michigan City, IN. Weekday hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CDT). Weekend hours are from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM (CDT).
