PNW Odyssey Art Exhibit: ‘Collages in Dimension’

Michael-KoscielniakThe Purdue University Northwest Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series presents the exhibit, “Collages in Dimension,” featuring the work of artist Michael Koscielniak, on the first floor, north study area of the Technology Building located at the Westville campus.

The exhibit is free, open to the public and continues through December.

Exhibit hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Koscielniak, of Michigan City, describes his exhibit as a combination collage and acrylic painting, created by using a process of spritzing an orange-peel organic household cleaner onto photos from “National Geographic” magazine. After completing this several-step preparation process, Koscielniak “looks at what the pages are saying to me” and paints the pages, allowing his imagination to create subjects for the viewer to discover.

“This allows viewers to share in my visual fantasies,” the artist said. “I like to use strong colors that exaggerate light and dark layers creating movement and depth, on a one- dimensional surface.”

The work of Koscielniak has been exhibited in galleries throughout the Midwest.
