La Porte County Historical Society Museum Announces 2017 Photo Contest Results

La-Porte-County-Historical-Society-Museum-2017-Photo-Contest-ResultsThe fall display at the La Porte County Historical Society Museum is again a photo contest, with trophies going to the winning submissions. This year is a “Then & Now” theme. The Historical Society has a vast collection of photos, some going back to the 1800’s. It’s always interesting to see how the landscape has changed over the years, and a “Then & Now” display is always very popular.

The entries will be on display for the fall and will stay up through the holidays. The photos were judged on preservation, artistic quality, and photographic ability. The winners this year are as follows: 1st Place, Victor Garrison for his photo of the overpass in La Porte. 2nd place goes to Mike Konieczny for his photo of 706 Jefferson Ave. in La Porte. And 3rd Place went to Arlene Hudgens for the photo of her family home. Judges this year were again County Historian Fern Eddy Schultz for preservation, Art Teacher Dori Huber, and Photographer Bob Wellinski.

The Museum is located at 2405 Indiana Avenue (US#35) at the south entrance to La Porte and is handicapped accessible. Normal hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
