What is the Absolute Best Pizza Topping Combination? Try It at Albano's!

The staff at Albano's Villa has seen and heard it all. From the classic choices of pepperoni and sausage, to the unique creations that include pineapple and olives, those at Albano’s Villa work hard to design the perfect pizza pie to satisfy all taste buds, no matter the request.

According to a Thrillist article called, “Power Rank: Pizza Masters Rank the Traditional Toppings from Worst to Best,” the author asked two pizza gurus what they saw when it came to pizza picks. Coming in at #1 in the article was pepperoni with its melt-in-the-mouth texture and nothing-else-like-it taste.

Everywhere you read, the research shows pepperoni is the best choice, the classic topping to perfect your pizza however, folks throughout Northwest Indiana disagreed. I guess, we are bit more “unique” than we thought.

In a Facebook poll, we asked the customers of Albano’s Villa what they thought was the best pizza pairings, and the varied results may make you say, ‘Hmm, let’s try that tonight!”

Got veggies anyone? Many people would choose to load up their meal with veggies: green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, and olives.

Jenny Craig-Brown said, “I love green and black olives with some onions and green peppers!” and Stephanie Baisden Swearington wants, “Mushroom and black olives” which is always, “so yummy!”

Others, of course had to have their meat.

Chris Sandberg said, “Sausage, mushrooms, and green peppers is always my stand by pizza.” Brett Fuller’s choices, which he hashtagged #WeirdbutDelish, are bacon, chicken, and green peppers.

One commenter went straight to Albano’s specialty for his perfect combination. It is called The Masterpiece, which has sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onions, black olives, bell peppers, and tomatoes. And then there are the really odd ones: The spicy lovers, the fruit-adding people, or if you’re like me, anything as long as it has a thick crust.

Anthony Cleveland chose, “Sausage jalapenos, and pepperoncinis.”

Gina Cullen’s choices are interesting. She recommends: “I’m one of those weirdos who likes pineapple on pizza. And extra cheese. And Cajun seasoning. Try it, and then come tell me ‘Thank You.’”

Well, I hope this gave you some ideas, of what to try next time when you stop at one of the three locations of Albano’s Villa, all located in La Porte County.

In addition to the Masterpiece, their other specialty pizzas include the Taco Pizza, which includes their homemade taco meat covered in mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and shredded lettuce and the Veggie dish, which includes mushrooms, onions, black olives, bell peppers, and tomatoes.
