Winter Wonderland is a month-long celebration in the Uptown Arts District, or downtown Michigan City, presented by the Michigan City Mainstreet Association and their membership. Each weekend features something special, starting December 1st with an Arts and Crafts Bazaar in the Uptown Arts District. The Arts and Crafts Bazaar will travel to a different venue each weekend.
December 7th brings the First Friday Art Walk, December 8th is The All Day Charity Day in which Businesses pick a charity for the day and a percentage of their sales will be donated to their charity of choice.
The fun continues through the month, including December 15th from 3pm to 7pm is the Culinary Hop. The Culinary Hop features The Taste of Michigan City participants in downtown businesses selling holiday-featured tastes. December 22nd from 3pm to 7pm is the Chili Cook Off, where those chefs prepare a special chili in downtown businesses.
Every Saturday throughout December will feature wagon rides, ice sculptures and free pictures with Santa at the Mainstreet Theater. Businesses can sponsor any of these activities, including having their very own ice sculpture crafted and placed downtown.
