Downtown Dog Day Planned for September 13 in La Porte

LaPorte-Chamber-of-CommerceDowntown La Porte will host the second Annual Downtown Dog Day on September 13 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pet owners and dog fans are welcome to come downtown with their dogs, stroll the downtown shops, dine al fresco and visit rescues and dog vendors on Rescue Avenue, taking place on Michigan Avenue between Lincolnway and Jefferson that evening.

Some of the featured vendors include; All Creatures Features Animal Hospital, Michiana Humane Society, Trail Creek Dog Training Club, Great Lakes Greyhound of Indiana, La Porte County Small Animal Shelter, Lazy Dog Pet Sitting and Services, Guardians of the Green Mile, the Independent Cat Society, and many more! Many downtown businesses that are participating in Second Saturday will also have water and treats available for dogs.

Karahtess Clothing on Indiana Avenue will be making t-shirts, while you wait, for lovers of all pets! They have tons of cool options that you get to choose and design. Engstrom Jewelers on Lincolnway, will have customizable dog tags for sale, a sidewalk sale, and be showcasing their Watch Dog program, in which part of the proceeds from watch battery replacements are given to Guardians of the Green Mile. Regionally renowned sculpture and activist for rescue animals, Martha Cares, newest collection will be on display at the La Porte County Public Library. Temple News Agency on Jefferson Avenue, will be serving up ice cream and treats for the whole family including your dog!
