Indiana Welcome Center Neared Record-Setting Attendance over Weekend

sscva-big-weekend-2014The Indiana Welcome Center was bustling with holiday cheer last weekend as families filled the W.F. Wellman Exhibit Hall for holiday activities, Santa photos and the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority’s annual holiday exhibit.

“Between Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec. 14, the Indiana Welcome Center saw more than 4,500 visitors,” said Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore CVA. “That is the highest number of visitors for an exhibit event weekend since 2011, in which 4,513 people stopped by to enjoy the exhibit and event.”

Batistatos explained that the weekend offered numerous activities, including crafts, cookie decorating, movie viewings, photos with Santa and letter-writing to Santa, as well as the popular Oh Fuuudge! Tire Relay Race.

“The holiday exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center is a true ‘Region’ tradition,” stated Batistatos. “It features area history and provides visitors and residents the opportunity to make memories.”

In addition to the exhibit becoming a tradition for many families, Batistatos believes the South Shore CVA is very skilled in coordinating and presenting special events.

“Visitors and residents know that by attending an event presented by the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, they will enjoy a fun, family-friendly and memorable experience,” said Batistatos.
