2. Artspace Gets Tax Credits; Will Become Reality in Michigan City

The third time was the charm for the Michigan City Artspace project. On Thursday morning, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority selected the project labeled "Uptown Artist Lofts" as one of 15 projects statewide to receive tax credits necessary to make what numerous Michigan City officials, residents and business owners had been dreaming of for years a reality.

3. Brewfest Goers Are in For a Treat

I just got back from the sneak peek media preview that the Blue Chip Casino, Hotel and Spa was kind enough to organize for us news-going folk. Let me tell you what, anyone that was lucky enough to get tickets to this year's Blue Chip Brewfest is in for an awesome time. Great local breweries doling out their best stuff to the awaiting public, all in one place at one time, inside of an excellent establishment like the Blue Chip – I don't see a downside here.

It was the annual Super Smoke Social; a fundraiser that benefits the United Way of La Porte County. This is a unique event, which is key in fundraising because it draws more people and makes for a more memorable occasion.

9. 6th Annual Worthy Recovery Dinner was a Wonderful Success

On Saturday night, Worthy Women Recovery Home of La Porte held its 6th annual Worthy Women Dinner. Held at Silver Palace, guests enjoyed a packed evening of talks from various guest speakers, a silent auction, a dinner, and generally wonderful conversation and company. Thanks to the event sponsors NECA, IBEW 531 Local Union, New Age Telecom, Qubit Networks, Jonas Construction, NIPSCO, Goodman Plumbing, and Stephani Electric, as well as table sponsors Meridian Title Corporation, Captain Ed's, La Porte Assembly of God, Trudy Menke, B&B Manufacturing, La Porte High School Girl's Reserves, and Trout Glass, all money raised from the silent and auction and ticket sales was able to go directly to Worthy Women programs.
