La Porte Mayor’s Ball Returns in 2018 for Another Successful Year

Sunday night the city of La Porte held it's annual Mayor's Ball in it's local Civic Auditorium. The event has been going on every year since 1989 when then mayor, Elmo Gonzales, saw it as an opportunity to raise funds for community projects as well as charities around the country.

Past recipients of the Mayor's Ball support include; D.A.R.E, Worthy Women Recovery Home, Champions For Today, YMCA Youth scholarships and One Town One Book as well as many others.

While Sunday night's funds haven't been allocated to one specific area, LaPorte mayor Mark Krentz is excited about the possibilities.

"I am pleased to be able to support some upcoming projects, we will be announcing them as the decisions are made on how the donations will be used," said Krentz.

Of course the night wasn't all about business decisions though, the Mayor's Ball brought together locals and goverment officals in a night filled with food and fun. Catering was provided by Portofino Grill and entertainment was handeled by the music of local band SushiRoll.

Attendee Annette Loeffler was happy to attend that the event.

"It was a fun night, I am greatful to everyone who came out and enjoyed the evening, in addition to supporting the community," said Loeffler.

The community returned that support with serveral local business sponsoring this latest Mayor's Ball. These sponsors included; Chalik Properties, Friedman & Associates, General Insurance Services, Greater LaPorte Economic Development Corporation, Horizon Bank, LaPorte Hospital, IBEW Local 1531, LP Co Covention & Visitors Bureau, La Porte Stark Pulaski Building, Newby Lewis Kaminski Jones LLP, NIES Engineering, NIPSCO, Qubit Networks & New Age Telecom, Rieth-Riley Construction, RQAW Consulting Engineers & Architects, Schneider Electric/Ty Miller, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters/Joiners Local 1485.

At the end of the night everyone, including Mayor Krentz, was happy with outcome of this years ball.

"I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of community support, it was an enjoyable evening and I think everyone had a great time, I know my wife and I did," said Mayor Krentz.
