La Porte Little Theatre Club presents the return of "Bleacher Bums" Go Cubs!! The theatre is located at 218 A Street in La Porte and the play will run from Friday, March 1st through Sunday, March 10th, show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm and all tickets are $12.00.
In the bleachers at Chicago's Wrigley Field, die hard Cub fans root for their team. “Bleacher Bums” takes place in the bleachers of Chicago's Wrigley Field. The characters are a bunch of Chicago Cubs fans, watching a game in progress on a summer afternoon. Most of them have been gathering here for some time and know each other; even if they might not necessarily like or tolerate each other. Beer is being drunk, hot dogs are being eaten, and friendly wagers start to take on increasing importance.
The group includes a rabid cheerleader, a blind man who follows the game by transistor radio and does his own play by play, a bathing beauty, a nerd and various other bleacher denizens. As the game proceeds, they bet among themselves on every conceivable event, go out for frosty malts or beers, try to pick up the bathing beauty and, occasionally, watch the game. The Cubs inevitably blow it in the ninth and the villainous Marvin, who always bets against the Cubs figuring he can't lose, cleans up.
The bleacher bums remain undaunted they will be back tomorrow to root for the home team.
