IU Health La Porte Hospital Classic Concert AMADEUS Mozart Un-Caged

LCSO welcomes International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) Woodwind Quartet Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 3 pm Elston Performing Arts Center, Michigan City

Winner of 8 Academy Awards, Amadeus highlights the triumphs and tragedies of a great musical genius. Chart topping soundtracks from the composer's epic output will be featured along with 21st century icon John Cage, known as an "Inventor of Genius." Geniuses collide as the precise and delightful melodies of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, performed by ICE are juxtaposed with Atlas Eclipticalis a work of "chance." Other surprises will be "un-Caged" in an afternoon of adventurous musical exploration.

For audience members of this event, concert sponsor IU Health La Porte Hospital will donate a chance to win one of three Heart Screenings! This event is also sponsored by Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation. Thanks also goes to Blue Chip Casino and Spa!

Not necessarily a Sci-fi freak? No worries; this event will be an enjoyable concert that engages the audience in a wide range of Pops favorites, spanning decades of award winning movie music.

ANNUAL BATON AUCTION This Pops Concert is the event where individuals will have the opportunity to conduct the orchestra and raise necessary funding for orchestra programs. Detailed information will be released soon. If you know someone who would like to conduct the orchestra, they can be nominated by contacting the LCSO office and pledging $20 for each nomination. Attention All Vocalists! March 29 & 30 are the dates for vocalists from the state of Indiana and Southwest Michigan to audition before a panel of judges.

Judges will determine the 12 Finalists who will compete at the September 13, 2014 event where the audience vote determines the winners.
