Festival of the Lakes 
Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and Hammond Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 13th annual Festival of the Lakes music talent lineup for the main stage at Wolf Lake Memorial Park Pavilion, 2324 S. Memorial Opera House Sock Hop 
The world famous Neverly Brothers from Chicago will headline the Memorial Opera House Foundation’s Sock Hop on Friday, July 22nd from 6:00 to 10:00 PM at the William E. Urschel Pavilion in Valparaiso’s Central Park Plaza. Proceeds from the Sock Hop with benefit the MOH Foundation, and coattails on the amazing MOH summer production of GREASE.

5th Annual La Porte Night Bicycle Ride 
The 5th Annual La Porte Night Bicycle Ride will take you on a leisurely 13-mile starlit bike ride of La Porte. Please note this is NOT a race. All participants must wear a helmet and have a headlight and taillight on their bike. Participants under the age of 10 years old must be accompanied and ride with an adult, either pull behind or tandem and require their own registration. Cost for this event is $20 per person and includes a t-shirt and snacks. Space is limited to the first 300 participants. For more information call 219-326-600

See a Show at the Portage IMAX
It's gonna be a hot one this weekend! Stay cool and take in a show at the Goodrich Portage 16 IMAX and see Ice Age: Collision Course, Star Trek Beyond, Ghostbusters, and some other great shows at the IMAX!

Parents as Teachers of Porter County Touch a Truck 2016 
Put your imagination in gear and join us at Touch a Truck where children get a chance to get behind the wheel of more than 35 vehicles and rub elbows with their hometown heroes. There will be monster trucks, race cars, police cars, fire trucks, garbage trucks, dump trucks, tow trucks and even a HELICOPTER! The cost of admission is only $20 per car load and includes unlimited bouncing in the Hot Wheels bounce house, unlimited pony rides, unlimited wagon rides and a foam field at noon. The first 100 kids in the gate will receive a pair of goggles and a die cast car.

Parade of Homes Returns With Locally Infused Block Party 
The Parade of Homes is kicking off again on July 23-31 at the Gates of St. John, this time offering a fun evening to mix and mingle under the stars at a barbecue and brew infused Block Party. The annual Parade of Homes is The Region’s premiere showcase of the finest builders in the area, offering looks into the passion, design, and process of creating some of Northwest Indiana’s most unique houses. Whether you’re looking for your next home, or just looking for ideas to reinvigorate your own, the event has something for every need and imagination.

Disc Golf at Countryside Park 
Countryside Park features a playground, sledding hill, picnic shelter, softball field, and a fishing pond. The park also has access to the Prairie Duneland Trail which passes along the southern boundary of the park. Countryside park is most recognized as the home of the Portage Historical Society and the Alton Goin Historical Museum.

La Porte Firefighters Rock the Park 
Every year the La Porte firefighters hold a music festival in Fox Park, in La Porte, Indiana. All of the money raised during this event is used to award college scholarships, and donated to charities. Help support some local heroes while having some Good Times! Stick around after PFB and check out ZZ Topp cover band Eliminator from Chicago. Contact any Fire Station for info on tickets. Doors open at noon. The Code Names kick it off at 2:30, then The Remedy Band at 4:30.

Michigan City Soul Steppers Drill Team's Show Up & Show Out 
Michigan City Soul Steppers are celebrating their Sweet 16 Anniversary by hosting the 9th annual "3D" Drill/ Drum/Dance Competition, to be held on Saturday July 23, 2016, at the Michigan City High School. Teams from Chicago IL, Kansas City MO, New Orleans LA, Omaha NE, Dayton OH, Cincinnati OH, Desmoine IA & more will be coming for the top score!!! Advance tickets only are $10 each or $12 at the door!
