It's the last weekend before school starts! Take this weekend and get out to a few of the many awesome festivals, concerts, and get-togethers happening in Lake, Porter and La Porte Counties!

Guardians of the Green Mile Woofstock 2016 
Join GOTGM August 13, 2016 9am to 5pm Sunset Hill Farm County Park 1 Mile Dog Walk,Cost $20 /$10 Children Registration 9am, Walk starts a 9:30am Dog Walk * Food * Games * Raffles * Music You won't want to miss these guys. The Planetary Blues Band.

NEO 5K Fun Run 
The NEO on the MOVE event will include a 5 K Walk/Run, a reunion of current and past students and teachers, a goodbye tour of the Central Avenue building and a HELLO tour of the new NEO Center, live music, food vendors and many other activities. This event will take place rain or shine!

HannaFest 
The little town of Hanna is making big plans to entertain both young and old at the annual community festival on August 13, called HannaFest. Hanna is located in southern La Porte County on highway 30 between Valparaiso and Plymouth. The Hanna Lions Club sponsors HannaFest and will have their world famous BBQ Chicken for sale in the park on Aug. 13 from 10 am until sold out. A variety of other foods, including home-made goodies, will be available. Local restaurants and stores will also have special meals and deals. There is free parking and entry to all events (Street Dance is for adults only and has a cover charge).

Duneland Chamber’s Party in the Park
The Duneland Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 11th annual Party in the Park event on Saturday, August 13, from 5pm to 8pm. A Duneland community tradition, this summer celebration will serve as the kick-off event for the 2016-2017 school year. Festivities will be held in Thomas Centennial Park in historic downtown Chesterton, Indiana. Party in the Park will feature local food vendors with food for purchase. A DJ will host the evening’s music and dancing. Bounce houses will be hosted by Road to Life Church, and additional children’s games and activities will be provided by local non-profit and Chamber member organizations.

5th Annual WHAM Ride 
Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Hammond Port Authority are proud to announce the return of the WHAM Ride on Saturday, August 13th- 14th. WHAM is scheduled to roll on Saturday, August 13th into Sunday, August 14th. Register NOW at www.active.com or at the Hammond Marina or Aquatic Play Center at Wolf Lake. Raffles: We'll raffle off baskets with goodies from each of the four cities you'll ride through (Hammond, Whiting, Highland, and Munster). We'll also raffle off a bike! You can purchase chances to win the night of Wham. All money raised from the bike and baskets will be donated to the Tri-City Special Games. Donations: Bring a nonperishable food item with you. We'll donate it to The Greater Hammond Food Pantry.

Beatles Fest 
The first 10 years was just the beginning. Beatles Fest XI in Downtown Hammond on Sat, Aug 13, 2016: Two music stages. Bigger festival grounds. Biggest lineup yet. Over 10 bands, including American English, Dick Diamond & The Dusters, and Nicole Jamrose Band. All-ages. Entertainment-packed kids area, and children 10 and under get in free. St. John Chamber Annual Corn Roast  
$8.00 entry on the day of the event, children 3 feet and under are free. Join us for an event of family fun! Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets and make it a picnic! Vendors, crafts, & live entertainment. Games and contests with prizes! Proceeds will benefit local high school scholarship programs.

Briar Leaf’s Family Golf Festival 
Take this great opportunity to wrap up the summer with a day of fun as Briar Leaf Golf Club’s Family Golf Festival is set for Sunday, August 14th. Junior golfers and their parents will enjoy a host of fun activities ranging from putting, chipping & driving contests to getting out on the course for a round.

Love Wins Benefit 
Full details, Ticket Sales, and any updates are available at http://lovewins.rainbowserenity.org This event will be held at the Porter County Expo Center on August 14th, 2016 from 3 pm - 9 pm. It is an all ages event and will have a Cash Bar, Cash Food, Entertainment including a Drag Show and special musical performances. A wealth of local vendors will be in attendance promoting their support and showing their wares.

Portage Back to School Fair 
Fair activities include; games and fun for the kids, inflatable rides, haircuts, music, food and more! Canvas backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed to school age kids as well as other personal essentials.
