Thanksgiving is this Thursday! Did you get your turkey yet? Thanksgiving is that special time of year when we watch Peanuts reruns on TV as we gorge on turkey, potatoes, greens and pies. When distant family comes to visit and the first fleeting hints of snow start to appear. But after turkey day, what can we do to entertain our guests? Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration/Tank Ceremony – Nov 24
The Mayor’s Office of Special Events is happy to announce that the City of Crown Point’s Annual Tree Lighting Celebration and Tank Ceremony is set for Friday, November 24th at 5:30 p.m. on the east side steps of the Old Courthouse. The community is invited to share in the free ceremony that will bring in the holiday season.

Chili Dump at Holiday Parade by Portage Presbyterian Church – Nov 24

Gary Chamber of Commerce Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the "Lakeshore Classic" – Nov 24
The Lakeshore Classic 2017, “Region Proud”, is a regional family-oriented event focusing its activities on raising educational awareness and drawing on the parallels between sports participation and academic achievement to encourage the region's youth to follow a path for success and is the only one of its kind within the greater Chicagoland area. The Lakeshore Classic event was established by the Gary Chamber of Commerce under the direction of Executive Director Charles "Chuck" Hughes.

Crown Point’s Winter Market – Nov 24
Mayor David Uran invites you to attend this year’s Winter Market. The event will be held Saturday, November 25th in the Maki Ballroom of the Courthouse located in downtown Crown Point.

Duneland Chamber Hometown Holiday Celebration – Nov 25
Duneland’s Hometown Holiday Celebration will take place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Event celebrations are coordinated by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town of Chesterton, the Chesterton Police, Parks and Street Departments, and the Chamber organizations and volunteers.

Fair Trade Holiday Bazaar at The Valpo International Center – Nov 25
The Valparaiso International Center will host its annual Fair Trade Holiday Bazaar on the next three weekends (Friday and Saturday): November 24-25, December 1-2, and December 8-9. The public is encouraged to come shop from 12 noon to 7 pm each day. The bazaar will be held at the VIC’s headquarters, 309 East Lincolnway, Valparaiso.

History of Freemasonry in La Porte – Nov 25
On Saturday November 25th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, the Free & Accepted Masons of Excelsior #41 will present a "History of Freemasonry in La Porte, Indiana" in the meeting room of the La Porte County Historical Society Museum. There will be a presentation on the history of the lodge given right at 1:00 PM. The Freemasons have been active in La Porte since 1838. Masons will be on hand to answer questions about the fraternity and the artifacts on display dating as far back as the mid-19th century. There is no additional fee for the program and display; however, regular museum admission will be charged.
