Summer is almost over but there is still great fun to be had this weekend! There are several events to enjoy like the enduring Tour de La Porte, fruity Raspberry Festival, classic 2001: A Space Odyssey at the Portage IMAX + GDX, educational Discover Uruguay at The Valparaiso International Center's "Fourth Friday" and more. August 24: Discover Uruguay at The Valparaiso International Center's "Fourth Friday" - Valparaiso, IN
Eduardo Brussa, a local entrepreneur of Uruguayan birth, is the featured speaker this month. He will present a brief history of his homeland and discuss its demographics, economy, politics, and religion. Ed will also provide information about Uruguayan culture, including its passion for soccer, favorite foods reflecting its diverse background, and the music and performing arts scene.

August 24: 1st Annual Metaphysical Marketplace Comes to Valpo - Valparaiso, IN
On Friday, August 24th from 4-10pm the first of its kind pop up metaphysical expo “Vibe After 5” will take place in downtown Valparaiso’s Central Park Plaza. Over 40 vendors offering everything from holistic healing services to artisan and earth inspired goods will gather as evening falls.

August 24 - 26: Tour de La Porte - La Porte, IN
Help us go the distance for cancer care! Tour de La Porte is a Cycling, Running and Walking Event. 100% of proceeds raised are used to provide direct support to local patients with cancer.

August 24 - 26: 2001: A Space Odyssey at the Portage 16 IMAX + GDX - Portage, IN
Humanity finds a mysterious, obviously artificial object buried beneath the Lunar surface and, with the intelligent computer HAL 9000, sets off on a quest.

August 25: Festival in the Park - Odgen Dunes, IN
Join the Ogden Dunes Women's Club for their annual fundraiser at Kratz Field. Dance the night away to live music by Chi Town Soul and enjoy food and drinks (beer + wine) provided by local food trucks and breweries.

August 25: Paladin Softball Tournament - Michigan City, IN
The softball tournament is designed to raise funds to help support persons with disabilities. The event is open to the community. The complex is kid-friendly and houses a playground onsite.

August 25: 8th Annual Valpo Night Ride - Valparaiso, IN
The 15-mile organized bike ride, which starts and finishes at the Butterfield Family Pavilion, allows participants to ride around the city at their own safe pace with volunteer and police support along the course.

August 25: Michigan City Farmer's Market - Michigan City, IN
Through October 13, join purveyors and producers of all kinds every Saturday from 8am-1pm in a time-honored tradition full of food, fresh air, and fun!

August 25 - 26: Raspberry Festival - Hobart, IN
Ready for some real raspberry fun? Enjoy the sweet, delicious taste of these healthy morsels freshly-picked from our raspberry patch! The raspberry festival has a ton of activities and food to try!

August 26: Folds of Honor Patriot Golf Series Midwest - Valparaiso, IN
The annual Folds of Honor Patriot Golf Series Midwest will be held on Sunday, August 26, with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start The Course at Aberdeen in Valparaiso, IN. A picnic dinner, along with family friendly activities will also be open to the public beginning at 4:00 p.m.
