We’re All in This Together

courtney-crozierThis week's submission is from a loser.

HA! Gotcha! This week's writer for Actve in NWI was a contestant on The Biggest Loser. Before going on the show she lost 112 pounds on her own and when Courtney Crozier went to the ranch she lost another 110 pounds which brought the total to 222 pounds lost. This makes her a weight loser.

Crozier didn't stop there. She continues to work out and reach all of her fitness and health goals. Read on below to find out more!

Being on the Biggest Loser was one of the greatest and toughest experiences of my life. The workouts were no joke and the lifestyle we lived at the ranch is something that everyone wishes they can do in everyday life, but working out that much everyday and having no other distractions is not realistic for the average American. There are times when I wish I could go back to the ranch and have all day everyday to workout, but since that is not possible, I have to make the MOST of my small amount of time I have each day to get my workout on! There is no better way in doing that than at Region Crossfit in Valparaiso.

Active in NWI GraphicMy boyfriend Alex and I started working out at Region Crossfit a little over a month ago, but in only one month my body has changed more than it has in two years. After being on the show, my body was worn out from losing weight and has been very content in maintaining my 232 pound weight loss. But I still have 40 pounds that I am trying to lose and also trying to tone up my body. I went into Region Crossfit and told Mark and Courtney Belanger my goals and they were so on board to help myself and Alex reach those goals! I have already lost a pant size since being there and not only that, I feel better than I've felt since being home from the ranch!

I love that I can walk in each day and I know the workout of the day (WOD) will be different than it was the day before. We all know that feeling of getting on the same treadmill or spin bike six days a week for an hour and it gets to be pretty boring after a while. I know that was the case for me. Yes, I still get my runs in and take a few spin classes a week, but having the high intensity workout with trainers and a community who all support you and support each other is an amazing feeling. To have trainers who know what they are talking about, show you the proper form for lifts and moves, show you how to scale something if you are not able to do it (yet), and support you 100% through it...you can't beat that!

On top of that, class sizes are small so you basically get either personal training or a small group personal training session each and every single time you go! I am currently going to RCF three days a week. Crossfit sets the tone for my day and I notice that my mood is always SO much better when I have done my WOD for the day.

Many people are scared or intimidated about trying Crossfit for the first time and I totally understand that. What I want to say is that ANYONE can do Crossfit. No matter what fitness level you are at, you CAN do it. First of all, you have to believe you can. When you believe in it, you can and will do it. But also, the trainers will scale anything and everything to make it work for you. My biggest weakness right now is doing pull-ups! I started doing ring rows and now I am doing jumping pull-ups on the bar. I am hoping to get to assisted pull-ups with the band very soon and I know eventually I will be able to do a full pull-up if I just keep working at it.

Honestly, I could go on and on about Region Crossfit and how much I love the community there, but I really think to fully understand what I mean, you MUST try it! The best part is, the first introductory workout is FREE at RCF!!! There's no excuse anymore when you can try something before you even sign up! All of the information is on their website at www.regioncrossfit.com where you can find the email and phone number to call to set up your introductory workout! I'm hoping to see MANY of you there with me! This is a huge reason of what keeps me active and LOVING it here and NW Indiana! We're all in this together :)
