A La Porte County Life in the Spotlight: Dawn Zigler

Dawn Zigler grew up in rural La Porte County and spent a lot of time in La Porte growing up. She attended La Porte High School and studied at Purdue North Central after graduation. Now, she is celebrating 16 years at Meridian Title Corporation and currently works as a Senior Account Manager.

Aside from working at Meridian Title, Dawn also serves as an ambassador for the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce as well as the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, and she has recently joined the board of the La Porte County Family YMCA.

“I’m looking forward to giving back to the community,” said Zigler. “I am also looking forward to ensuring that the YMCA continues to be a great place for entire families and our community as a whole.”

Although she is very involved with work and the community, Dawn admits that she couldn’t have gotten to where she is today without being herself and finding what she is best at. She has also been very grateful to have many people throughout her life help her become the person she is today.

“I’ve been influenced by many local leaders, family and friends over the years,” said Zigler. “My family and friends are my true mentors, teachers and guides and, yes, my partners in crime! They have all contributed to my life and helped make me who I am today.”

Dawn also admits that she got to where she is today by a little bit of luck, a little bit of skill and a lot of help from great leaders. She also believes that believing in herself and never giving up allowed her to become interested in everything she is involved with in life.

“You have to find what you are best at, don’t try to be everything but try everything,” said Zigler. “Then, find what is truly yours and concentrate on that and perfect it. Be yourself, never give up and stay positive and motivated. Good energy and positive thinking attracts success.”

Giving back to the community plays a huge role in Dawn’s life, and she believes that it is easy to get involved with something you care about. Volunteering is a great outlet for creating longtime friendships, and it allows people to bond over a shared passion.

“I think you can enhance your own life by improving the areas where you work, live and play,” said Zigler. “ A community with a high quality of life means safer, healthier lives for you and those around you. I have created lasting friendships with those that I may not have otherwise met while volunteering. It also allows you to choose how and where you want to make a difference. It’s easy to get inspired about a cause you truly care about.”
