Long Standing Michigan City Business Finds New Home

For those who have lived in the area long enough, or conducted business in and around Michigan City, many are familiar with Reprographic Arts, Inc. location at 1017 Franklin Street. Reprographic Arts is the place to call when you are in need of custom t-shirts for a school function, printed signs for a promotion, or banners to advertise sponsors at a fundraising event. Most recently though, you may have noticed the “We have moved” sign outside of the Franklin Street building. Reprographic Arts is happy to announce their new location at 2824 East Michigan Boulevard, and still located in Michigan City.

While over the years Reprographic Arts, Inc. has added to its array of services, the business began exclusively as a place for local architects and firms to have blueprints completed. Started in 1970 by Fred Brown, the business began inside an architect’s facility as a blueprint shop. Fred’s son Kevin Brown came aboard the business in 1992, with experience in reprographics and managing paint stores, he soon began to add to their line of work. Kevin, who is now President of the company, was later joined by his wife Elizabeth who has been working alongside him for 20 years.

The business continued to grow as the result of new products like signs, banners, screen printing, vehicle graphics, and more, space at the Franklin Street location began to get tight. With the need to expand, Kevin knew an investment would need to be made soon. At the same time, the City of Michigan City and the South Shore Line had ramped up progress on the Double Track NWI project. In the plans for the new station and track layout in Michigan City, Reprographic Arts Franklin Street location would need to be removed to make room for the new tracking and downtown station. Kevin Brown saw this as his opportunity to move forward with the much needed expansion, “With Double Track on its way, and knowing that we would need to move eventually, we came across this building that was a former printing company and it was the right time, right place.”

Moving from a 3,000 square foot facility to their current 5,500 square foot facility has allowed Kevin to invest in additional machinery and create much needed space for each department. They have also been able to add two new employees, a Marketing member and a Sales member, for a total of eight at this time. These new employees will help them work with current customers and broaden their customer reach. “We have had long term relationships with many community organizations like the chambers, the schools, nonprofit organizations and more,” said Kevin Brown “And, we look forward to growing our customer base in the future.”

To celebrate the new location, Reprographic Arts, Inc. will have an open house and ribbon cutting on April 4th at 4:00 pm. The event will be co-hosted by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce, the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce, and the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce. The open house is a great opportunity for past and current customers to come see the new location and for new customers to come see what Reprographic Arts, Inc. has to offer. Currently, Reprographic Arts, Inc. is offering great specials on yard signs and customer t-shirts if purchased in quantities of 100 or more. Call today to learn more, 219-872-9111.
