Family Advocates invites the community to participate in their third annual CASA Superhero 5K & 10K Trail Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run. This year it is a partnership with Tryon Farm Institute who does an annual trail run. It will provide fun for the whole family with a costume contest, bouncy house, and more. Proceeds from the race will directly help Tryon Farm Institute & Family Advocates. The Superhero 5K/10K is sponsored by IU Health La Porte Hospital, Sauer’s Automotive, NIPSCO, Friedman & Associates P.C. and WIMS AM 1420. Other sponsors include: Grand Rental Station, Castor & Pollux Studios, General Insurance Services, Horizon Bank, La Porte Seamless Gutter, Long Beach Realty, Buffalo Wild Wings, Third Base Bar & Grill, Krogers, and Pine Lake Realty.
Organizers are hoping for more than 300 runners, walkers, families and volunteers supporting Family Advocates & Tryon Farm Institute.
The race will take place at Tryon Farm located at 1500 Tryon Road, Michigan City, Indiana and will end in the same location.
“While every child needs a hero, abused and neglected children need superheroes,” said Biernacki. “Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteers are a powerful voice for abused and neglected children.” Families are encouraged to participate with their children by walking; pushing strollers, jogging or running the 5K/10k together or participating in the Kids FunRun. Activities for the whole family will include a bounce house, face painting, super hero photos and more. A costume contest with guest judges will add to the superhero fun. Come dressed as your favorite superhero and join friends of CASA for this fun, family friendly event. Run for a cause and be a SUPERHERO for a local child that needs your help!
The mission of the Tryon Farm Institute is to connect human and natural communities by promoting habitat diversity and sustainable land husbandry. Super Hero runners and walkers will have an opportunity to experience the trails as they head toward the finish line.

The cost of the run is $35 for adult 10K Trail run, $25 adult for adult 5k run; $15 children 10-13 for 10K or 5K; Celebration Walk $5’ under 5 is free without t-shirt. T-shirts are included if registered before 7/3/2015.
