Dr. Rishi Sukhija to Speak at Women Heart

Dr-Rishi-Sukhija-to-Speak-at-Women-HeartOne person’s life was saved. Another person did the saving. When you get the two in a room together, the conversation is pretty inspiring.

La Porte Hospital Heart Month activities continue with “Ask a Cardiologist,” featuring interventional cardiologist Rishi Sukhija, MD, who is the featured speaker at the local Women Heart support group, headed by Sue Chlebek.

During his speaking engagements, Dr. Sukhija offers expert insight on heart disease, how to prevent it, and how to continue treating it and staying healthy after you’ve had a serious heart event. He practices with La Porte Physician Network Cardiology Care.

Sue and Dr. Sukhija met each other shortly after Sue collapsed from a heart attack several years ago. He was the doctor who put a stent in her heart that essentially saved her life.

Since then, Sue has become a tireless advocate for education and awareness about women and heart disease, running a local chapter of the Women Heart group, and being tapped by nationally-renowned organizations for speaking and research.

The program takes place at the Women Heart support group at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 13 at the Heart & Vascular Center Conference Room, 901 Lincolnway, La Porte. It is free and open to the public; registration not required. For information, call (219) 324-7519 or email wh-laporteco@womenheart.org.
